As part of Sculpture at Sawmillers 2016 there will be a poetry competition to include live readings at Sawmillers Reserve at 2pm on Saturday 24 September 2016.

The competition will be for original poetry of maximum 26 lines (or 250 words) on the subject of either Sculpture, Nature or Sydney Harbour. The winner and five runners up will be expected to read their poems on the day. There will be a prize of $350 for the winner and $150 for second place. Poems are to be submitted electronically to sawmillerspoetry@gmail.com by 6pm on Sunday 18 September 2016.

The poems will be judged by the committee of ‘Sculpture at Sawmillers’ and Danny Gardner of ‘Live Poets at Don Bank’ in North Sydney. The afternoon of 24 September will start with the irreverent Tug Dumply warming up the crowd with comedy poetry. Tug has performed poems, songs and monologues at schools and festivals in Australia and abroad to universal acclaim.

PLEASE NOTE: The work must be written by the entrant and not previously published. Sculpture at Sawmillers reserve the right to have the poems copied in the local press or future publicity material.

It is hoped that one or two of Sydney’s Poetic community will also read at the event.
