Her Excellency, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, today congratulated the winners of the Sculpture at Sawmillers Exhibition at Sawmillers Reserve, McMahons Point. Sponsors including insurers TAL, Australian Catholic University, liquor importers Diageo and the family of the late Michael Tribe generously donated the prize money and the many services in kind.
The Major Prize of $20,000 was awarded to James Rogers for his sculpture ‘Moire Bay’.
Highly Commended prize of $5000 was awarded to Stephen Ralph for his ‘Tower of Silence’.
Emerging artist prize of $2500 was awarded to Nerine Martini for ‘Ascend’.
Mayor of North Sydney Council, Jilly Gibson, awarded the Mayor’s Prize to Morgan Shimeld for ‘Escarpment’.
The Secondary Student Prize of $1000 was awarded to students from Braidwood Central School for ‘School of Fishes’.

UPDATE: The People’s Choice award of $3000, sponsored by the family of the late Michael Tribe, has been awarded to Elyssa Sykes-Smith for ‘Dissolution?’.
